Nigeria Spelling Bee has successfully defended its title as the “Best Spelling Bee Country Team” at the just concluded African Spelling Bee in Uganda held on the 20th of October 2019.

Eniola Idowu of Montclair College Ogun emerged the 2nd Position (joint), while Sulaiman Dunoma of Federal Government College Maiduguri clinched the 3rd Position (joint).

Among the Team Nigeria Spellers are Benedicta Chukwu of Divine Rays British School Obosi, Anambra; David Okoro of Deeper Life High School Aba; Isaac Iwelu of Nigerian Tulip International College Abuja; and Oluwafemi Odutola of Montclair College Ogun state.

These Spellers were outstanding in the Nigeria Spelling Bee 2019 National Finals held at Ritman University Ikot-Ekpene Akwa-Ibom State in July which was organized by the Bee Spelling Competition Initiative, a nongovernmental organisation endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Education.

The Spellers were accompanied by the representative of the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Mrs Adigun Ayodele Esther (Basic & Secondary Education Department).

We want to especially thank all parents/guardians, coaches and officials who accompanied the spellers and worked tirelessly for the successful representation of Nigeria at the continental event.
